For this drafty old aluminum slider window we had to cut back the siding on the house in order to change the frame properly. We had new “j” channels bent up to match the colour of the house. We installed them on the siding before we placed the new PVC slider in place. The window was installed with a 2″ Brickmould around the perimeter to fill in seamlessly where the siding had been cut back for installation. This window was finished off on the inside with 3″ primed mdf casings.
The new PVC window is from Armwood windows in Manitoba. After weighing the cost and effect, our customer had chosen to go with Dual glazed units with Low E and Argon. The frame came with a 2″ renovation brickmould around the perimeter and extensions for 4 1/2″ jambs.
